On the very edge of the OG’s most favourite place in the world - Newlands Forest in the Western Cape.

Her sons were born in a wardens cottage, in Newlands Avenue across the road from the great tangled forests

on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. The boys love of nature began with the grey squirrels and their pine

cones, mushrooms and tiny streams of running water headed down slope through the forest to join the the

Upper Liesbeek River. In those days we caught rainbow trout in that stream! Always exploring and always

investigating the rustle of life in the undergrowth..
